Center Health Care at the Center for Disability Services Welcomes Russell Wenacur, M.D. as Chief Medical Officer
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Russell Wenacur will become Chief Medical Officer for the Center for Disability Services in Albany on May 5, 2025. As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Wenacur will oversee the integration and delivery of the Centers Health Care Services and will lead an established medical team dedicated to providing comprehensive, coordinated and quality access to healthcare to the entire community and specialized services to individuals with disabilities and their families. Center Health Care offers Primary Care, Dental, Neurology, Psychiatry, Physiatry (rehabilitation medicine), Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and other support services, all under one roof. As Chief Medical Officer of the Center for Disability Services, Dr. Wenacur will also be responsible for all aspects of medical policy, agency-wide, for the individuals we support.

Community Engagement will be one of the cornerstones of Dr. Wenacur’s new role. Dr. Wenacur shares our vision and plans to enthusiastically continue the important work the Center does in identifying gaps in care for those with disabilities and underserved populations. He will be helping us continue to engage and partner with community agencies and resources to fill those gaps.”
Dr. Wenacur is a board certified Family Practice Physician with over 26 years of experience practicing in the Capital Region. Originally joining Troy Family Physicians in 1999 until relocating his practice to Latham to practice medicine as an affiliate of Community Care Physicians and looks forward to his next endeavor as Chief Medical Officer for the Center for Disability Services. Dr. Wenacur’s experience expands beyond family medicine as he has previously volunteered as a physician for the U.S. Transplant Games and the U.S. Special Olympics.
A graduate of SUNY Binghamton, Dr. Wenacur received his medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center at Upstate Medical College in Syracuse, New York and furthered his training as a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellow at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He served his family medicine residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, New York. In addition, Dr. Wenacur is certified in New York State to practice Medical Based Acupuncture. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Physicians, a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, a member of the New York State Academy of Family Physicians, and a member of the Medical Society of the State of New York.
Dr. Wenacur resides in East Greenbush with his wife, Jennifer and two sons.
