CFDS Receives Federal Grant
March 11, 2024
We are excited to announce that the Center for Disability Services has been awarded a $1.549 million dollar Federal Grant through Senator Schumer’s office for Green Initiative Housing for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. The Funding will go toward a supervised one-story residence to address the “aging in place” initiative, specifically for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The residence will also meet federal carbon reduction goals. We want to acknowledge U.S. Senator Charles Schumer for his continued support of the Center for Disability Services and his relentless efforts to secure the funds for this grant. This is the second consecutive year that Senator Schumer has secured funding for meaningful Center projects. Thank you to Steve Mann Deputy State Director for U. S. Senator Schumer for his work and support in this region. We are excited to have the opportunity to build one of the first, if not the first, group home in this region, serving the IDD population, in an energy efficient, and environmentally friendly manner.
