Sensational Siro’s Cup

It was a sensational midsummer evening as more than 1,200 guests welcomed the Saratoga season at the 24th Annual Newton Plaza & Marini Homes Siro’s Cup, a fundraiser for the Center for Disability Services, on July 20, the eve of opening day at the Saratoga Race Course. Worries about a rainy night proved to be unfounded and the party was on. Marylou Whitney and John Hendrickson attended and they warmly greeted the night’s honoree, jockey Javier Castellano and his wife, Abby. They were surrounded by photographers, reporters and videographers anxious for a soundbite and the chance to capture the perfect photo.

Laughter & Gratitude @ Langan Graduation

A Class of 2017 Commencement and Award ceremony for the Langan School was held on the evening of June 22, in front of a large crowd of family, friends, employees and board members of the Center for Disability Services. Langan School, named in honor of Kevin G. Langan, is part of the Center. Graduates entered to the processional “Pomp and Circumstance,” and when the music faded, a heartfelt shout of “nice job!” from a soon-to-be-graduate made everyone laugh.

Jockey Javier Castellano to be Honored at Siro’s Cup

The 24th annual Newton Plaza & Marini Homes Siro’s Cup to benefit the Center for Disability Services will be held on Thursday, July 20. The fundraising party, held on the eve of opening day at the Saratoga Race Course, begins at 6:30 p.m. at Siro’s Restaurant, 168 Lincoln Avenue, Saratoga Springs. At 7:30 p.m., there will be a presentation to the evening’s honoree, jockey Javier Castellano, who has been selected as a 2017 inductee into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. Castellano rode Cloud Computing to victory in this year’s Preakness Stakes and and he has received the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey for four consecutive years, 2013 to 2016.
