Giants’ Wide Receiver Sterling Shepard at #518gives Fundraiser

Sterling Shepard, wide receiver with the NewYork Giants, will appear as a special sports guest at the #518gives Fundraiser to benefit the Center for Disability Services on Sunday, January 27. Shepard will be joined in the sports area, which is presented by UHY LLP, at the Red Lion Hotel, formerly the Radisson Hotel Albany, 205 Wolf Road, by a player from the New York Yankees to be announced soon. Shepard will sign autographs from noon to 3 p.m. All proceeds from the #518gives Fundraiser stay in the Capital Region and Saratoga/Lake George area. The Center and its divisions, St. Margaret’s Center, Prospect Center in Queensbury, Life Quality Solutions Incubator and the Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center strive to improve tomorrow and have a positive impact today on the lives of people with disabilities and their families.

Shepard is a third year player with the Giants. Born in Oklahoma City, he played football at Heritage Hall School and competed in basketball and track before attending the University of Oklahoma and playing college football. The New York Giants selected him in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

In spite of tough seasons in recent years, the New York Giants continue to have a large and loyal fan base in Albany. The Giants have played a major part in the Center’s fundraisers for more than a decade. Special guests from previous years include Evan Engram (2018), Paul Perkins (2017), Jason Pierre-Paul (2016), Rashad Jennings (2015), Andre Brown (2014), Martellus Bennett (2013), Hakeem Nicks (2012), Adam Koets (2011), Rich Seubert (2010), Steve Smith and Derrick Ward (2009) and Steve Smith (2008).

The all live, all local #518gives Fundraiser broadcast airs on WXXA/FOX23 (cable channel 8 or check listings) from noon to 7 p.m. The Center for Disability Services, celebrating 76 years of service to the community, is known as the place where people get better at life.
